This beautiful kenyan coffee is from Gachuiro factory which is located in Nyeri on the Eastern side of Mt. Kenya national park about 10 km from the town of Karatina. Gachuiro is one out of four wet mills in Kiama Farmers Cooperative Society was first registered under the Coop Act on 4th January 2005. The society has four factories namely; Gachuiro, Ichuga, Kiamaina and Kiangundo with head office located at Baricho head office. Each factory is placed within an electoral zone/area, represented by the management committee that forms the board of directors. Also, society has a supervisory board of 3 members who checks the activities of the management committee. Both committees report to the cooperative members in annual general meetings. Kiama cooperative Society has 24 permanent staff who are supported by the seasonal workers during the coffee processing season. Gachuiro factory has 480 active members; 260 male, 220 females. Gachuiro catchment is highly productive with multiple farming activities that support different value chain. This includes dairy, horticultural, Tea and Macadamia nuts. The factory is located in Nyeri on the Eastern side of Mt. Kenya national park about 10 km from the town of Karatina. The main crop is harvested in October through December and Fly crop in April through June each year.
