”I can’t read and write. I grew up in a family without money and from a very young age, my brothers and I worked to contribute to the family economy” don Marcos tell us. Don Marcos is origianlly from Mozonte. He has worked in agriculture for as long as he can remember. 12 years ago, in 2009, he bought his own land. At this time, land value was low, and the savings don Mario had was enough to buy 2 manzanas of land. Later, this land was planted with coffee. Most of the agricultural work is done based on experience and traditional knowledge. Don Marcos tells us: ”I don’t have much knowledge of the new things that are made in coffee plantations. We work the land in a traditional way” In 2021 don Marcos met with Claudia and Tim form Bridazul and decided to work with them. Bridazul. They support don Marcos with knowledge and teach new technics and ways of pruning the coffee, to better use the natural resources on the farm.
Process: This is a fully washed coffee. Cherries are picked ripe, depulped, fermented for 36 hours and washed on the farm, then dried on African beds for 15 days at Cafetos de Segovia dry mill in Ocotal.
